Uncomfortable Conversations

Yes!

Parenting can be awkward, especially when it comes to bringing up and discussing uncomfortable things.

And yet, we must. This is part of our j o b.

We need to have uncomfortable conversations with our children about body image, drugs, dating, addiction, private parts, periods, sex, adults who aren’t respectable, etc.

If we don’t talk with our children about these things - teach them their meaning, be open to their questions, let them know our expectations - then they’re left to learn it from either their friends or more likely the internet.

And this is the last thing we want.

Remember - awkwardness is okay. It’s brave.

Be humble and honest about it - even name that it’s a little uncomfortable for you but important enough to withstand the discomfort. This is great modeling in and of itself.
